Washington has every natural wonder you can cream of, from beaches and plains to mountains and valleys. And if you want some unique scenery, explore one of our little known canyons.
1. Cowiche Canyon
Cowiche Canyon stretches between Yakima and Ellensburg, and it features a beautiful trail where you can walk beneath stunning basalt and andesite cliffs along a peaceful creek.
2. Ape Canyon
Ape Canyon is located on the southeast shoulder of Mount St. Helens. It got its name from an alleged Bigfoot attack in 1924, one of Washington's most famous Sasquatch sightings.
3. Joseph Canyon
We're lucky enough to share this beautiful canyon with Oregon. You'll find the Washington side in southern Asotin County, and although the canyon itself is private land of the Nez Perce Tribe, you're welcome to go and enjoy the viewpoints.
4. Moses Coulee
Moses Coulee is a canyon in the Waterville plateau region of Douglas County, and most Washingtonians don't know it exists even though it's the second largest canyon of the Channeled Scablands. A nice, easy hiking trail winds through it, so it's a perfect spot for an outdoor adventure.
These canyons are some of Washington's beautiful hidden gems. But for a more grandiose experience, head to our Grand Canyon, Palouse Falls State Park.
