Do you have any Washington winter traditions? If you live on the east side of the state (or you plan to visit soon), we certainly hope one of them involves a trip to Spokane's Riverfront Park. Not only is the park absolutely gorgeous when it's decked out for the holiday season and dusted with snow, but it's also home to the a unique ice skating ribbon that allows you to show off your skating skills. This season, for some epic ice skating in Washington that will make you feel like you're in a Hallmark Christmas movie, check out the Numerica Skate Ribbon!
Riverfront Park is spectacular in any season, but there's something extra special about this favorite local destination in the winter.
Don't believe us? Take the SkyRide over the falls and see for yourself.
Of course, when the ice ribbon opens, it's always the main attraction!
In any other season, this is a place for roller skating and scootering - but in the winter, it's for ice staking only.
The Numerica ice ribbon at Riverfront Park consists of a 16-foot wide and 650-foot long loop pathway, with a 3,500 square foot attached pond rink.
Along the ribbon path, you'll also experience slight inclines and declines, which is all part of the fun. It's the perfect opportunity to really practice some balance in anticipation of snowy weather and ski season!
Here, you can skate under the stars (or by daylight) surrounded by picturesque Northwest-inspired landscape.
And if you need a break, just grab some hot chocolate and find one of the cozy fire pits. If you work up an appetite, the Sky Ribbon Café can accommodate you.
Ice staking is fun for all ages, but needless to say, this makes a fantastic date night. Possibly even a photo-worthy proposal spot!
Imagine skating the night away before enjoying cocoa and s'mores by the fire.
The sound-activated light tunnel is just one of the ribbon's incredibly unique features - kids and adults of all ages love this part!
Just make some noise and watch what happens. (We'll leave it as a surprise!)
This winter, grab a Numerica season pass, load up the family or that special someone, and prepare to have an absolute blast!
Ice skating is just one of the many fun things you can do in Washington in the winter, but it's definitely one of our favorite nostalgic activities. Bonus points for the views and numerous family-friendly activities nearby! Visit the Numerica Skate Ribbon website for hours, ticket pricing, and more.
And if you're feeling especially adventurous, you can always head northwest to check out Leavenworth for some more picture-perfect holiday cheer.
