Washington has always been known to have some of the best produce. Because of our widely diverse climate, we're able to grow some of the freshest food in the entire country - including our iconic sweet apples, pears, grapes and red raspberries, to name a few. Most people have been to (or at least, heard of) the famous, long-standing marketplace at Pike Place Market, but you can pick up locally-produced goods in almost every neighborhood around here. We have farmers markets going on all year, but here are 20 of the current (or upcoming) ones that are worth a walk around.

1. Jefferson County Farmer's Market (Port Townsend)

Port Townsend's farmers market is one of the larger, most popular ones in the whole state. Swing by and you'll find over 70+ vendors offering locally grown produce, artisan cheese, cider, baked goods, espresso, herbal salves, soaps and unique crafts, among other items. This year: April 2 - December 17, Saturdays, 9am-2pm

2. Pybus Public Market (Wenatchee Valley)

There aren't many better places to pick up fresh produce in Washington than at the local market in Wenatchee Valley. Situated inside a refurbished warehouse by the Columbia River, they feature marvelous views of the water, on top of fabulous restaurants, locally harvested produce and more. This year: May 14th-Oct 29th, 8:00am-1:00pm

3. Downtown Farmers Market (Walla Walla)

Walla Walla's downtown market will be open for the 2016 season by the end of the month. Stop by for all of your fruit and veggie needs (including Walla Walla Sweet Onions), and be sure to go for a browse through all of the local handcrafted items.This year: April 30-October 31, Saturdays, 9am-1pm

4. West Seattle Farmer's Market

While in Seattle, skip out on the over-packed Pike Place Market and head over to this market in the heart of the West Seattle Junction. Open all year, you'll be able to browse through 35+ booths and fill your basket full of freshly grown veggies, baked goods, local wines and freshly cut flowers. This year: Sundays, 10am - 2pm

5. Olympia Farmer's Market

Olympia's market is a long-running hot spot, held rain-or-shine in a giant covered pavilion. You'll be able to pick up all sorts of organic produce here, in addition to local crafts (which make for great gifts), baked goods, meat, seafood, dairy and more. Aside from local shopping, they also feature plenty of live entertainment the whole family can enjoy. This year: April-October, Thursdays-Sundays, 10am-3pm

6. The Spokane Farmers' Market

Spokane's most popular market will be back next month as of Saturday, May 14. Support our local eastern Washington farmers by picking up all of your fresh produce here, along with the other delicious baked goods, meats, eggs and organic vegetables. This year: May 14 - the end of October, Saturdays 8am-1pm

7. The Everett Farmers Market

The farmers market in Everett will be kicking off their 2016 season on Mother's Day, held at the Port of Everett waterfront. The large, popular marketplace offers almost everything you could ever really need - from fresh fruit to products made by local artists and delectable artisan food. This year: May 8 - October 16, Sundays 11am-4pm

8. Poulsbo Farmer's Market

Kitsap County's most popular, long-season market is now in full swing for 2016. The 35+ vendors offer some of the freshest produce in the area, along with hand-prepared foods and a good variety of locally-crafted products. This year: April 2 - December 19, Saturdays, 9am–1pm

9. Vashon Farmers Market

This small, charming market is a great place to pick up produce out on Vashon Island. Swing by this season and you'll find fresh, local fruits & veggies, flowers, fish, meats, eggs, wine, beer and homemade crafts, along with fantastic live music in the background.

This year: April 2 - October 29, Saturdays, 10am-2pm

10. Port Angeles Farmers Market

The farmers market in Port Angeles is one of only seven that are open year-round. No matter when you visit, you'll find an abundance of locally grown produce, meat and fish, as well as pastries and hot prepared foods for lunch. Local artists also showcase their work here, featuring one-of-a-kind jewelry, knitted clothing and skin care products - including soaps and lotions that smell amazing. This year: Saturdays, 10am-2pm and Wednesdays, 2pm-6pm

11. Chewelah Farmers Market

Although small, this market has still been continually named as the Best Small Farmers Market in our whole state by the Washington Farmers Market Association. Swing by and you'll be able to pick up produce fresh from the farm, along with hand-made crafts and more. This year: May 16 - Oct 17, Fridays, 11:30am-5:30pm

12. Puyallup Farmers Market

Puyallup's long-running downtown market is just now kicking off their season, as of April 16. Pick up a basket and you'll be able to fill it with all of your favorite veggies, fruits and freshly-cut flowers, all grown right here in the Pacific Northwest. Aside from produce, the marketplace features talented local artists, specialty food vendors, and live music for all ages. This year: April 16 - October 15, 9:00am-2:00pm

13. Bainbridge Island Farmers Market

The farmer's market on Bainbridge is more than worth taking a ferry ride out for. The 40+ vendors offer fresh produce, flowers and specialty crafted products made right here on the island, as well as live music and even wine made from island-grown grapes. This year: March 26 - December 17, Saturdays, 9am-1pm

14. Ballard Sunday Farmer's Market (Seattle)

Seattle has a farmers market in almost every neighborhood, but the one in Ballard is another absolute must-visit. Open since 2000, it's actually Seattle's first year-round market that exclusively sells produce only from Washington. Go for a stroll along the tree-lined streets and you'll find booths with organic foods, unique crafts and plenty more items in an exciting, family-friendly environment. This year: Every Sunday (except holidays), 10am-3pm

15. Edmonds Farmers Market

One of the most popular markets north of Seattle is the one in downtown Edmonds. Every year, they feature over 120+ vendors including local farmers and craftspeople, with an eclectic variety of Washington-grown produce along with other unique local items. This year: June 20 - October 3, Saturdays, 9am-3pm

16. Prosser Farmers Market

There aren't many more amazing places to visit during the summer than this market in the heart of Washington's wine country. Seasonal produce is available here fresh from the farm, as well as freshly cut flowers and other plants. They also have artisan breads, gourmet cheeses, espresso, baked pastries, woven baskets and other products. While you're near the Tri-Cities, make sure to also check out the huge Farmers Market over in Pasco. This year: May 7 - September, Saturdays, 8am-noon

17. Port Orchard Farmers Market

Situated on the waterfront, Port Orchard's farmers market is a delightful place to walk around during the springtime. Not only can you pick up local seasonal produce, but they also have quality meat, dairy, crafts, cut-flowers, and delicious prepared foods, including fresh oysters and clams. This year: April 16 - mid-October, Saturdays, 9am-2pm

18. Gig Harbor Waterfront Farmers Market

With vendors from all over the Puget Sound area, Gig Harbor offers a spectacular farmers market down by their waterfront. You can walk around and smell flowers, pick up farm-fresh produce, baked goods, find plenty of activities for the little ones, and kick back to some awesome live music. This year: Thursdays, 3-7 pm starting June 2nd through August 25th.

19. Tacoma Proctor Farmers Market

Voted as the Super-Best Farmers' Market in all of Tacoma, the Proctor Farmers Market is definitely one you won't want to miss. They showcase everything from fresh produce to pasture-raised meats, wild-caught seafood, wine, beer, and plenty of ready-to-eat-food when you get hungry. This year: March 26 - December 17, Saturdays, 9am-2pm

20. Carnation Farmer's Market

Although a small town market, Carnation still offers a pretty big variety of locally grown fruits and veggies to choose from. On top of picking up your fresh groceries here, you'll be able to taste great samples, enjoy live music and so much more. This year: May 3 - November, Tuesdays 3-7pm
