One of the many (many) wonderful things about Washington life is that you're never far from nature, no matter where you live. Washington has some seriously diverse landscapes, so you can comb through a forest one weekend and be at the beach the next. And if all you need in your life is lush greenery and a peaceful waterfall, look no further than the Twin Falls trail.
Twin Falls is located at Olallie State Park, a hidden gem of a public recreation area near North Bend.
Since this is a state park, you'll need a Discover Pass to hike the trail.
The trail is about 3.5 miles in length, and it's considered a fairly easy trail for hikers of all skill levels.
From the trailhead, you'll simply follow the river and head down a short, steep hill.
After crossing the first bridge, you'll come to a river access pool where you'll definitely want to stop for a moment.
This pool is often full of little fish, and on a warm summer day, it might be full of dogs cooling off as well.
From the pool, you'll climb a series of small hills until you reach the beautiful Twin Falls.
Twin Falls is actually a series of three small waterfalls that combine into one, which sounds a bit confusing given its name.
Twin Falls is actually the tallest waterfall along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River.
The first section is two drops totaling 45 feet, the second is the two 30-foot drops from the long trail bridge crossing the river, and the third is the big horsetail drop of 135 feet over a rock protrusion.
While this hike does involve a few challenging climbs, it's considered fairly easy and family-friendly.
You're also welcome to bring your dogs along, as long as they stay leashed.
The Twin Falls Trail is a fantastic hike for beginners and experts alike.
While the trail rarely closes, it's definitely most popular in the summer. If you'd like to avoid other hikers, go in the spring and opt for a weekday.
