Did your year have a bit of a hectic start? Don't worry, if you're a bit late in making those resolutions of setting those intentions, you've still got plenty of time. And if you feel you're best when you're surrounded by nature, just hit one of Washington's hiking trails that stay open all year long for a little self-reflection (and a lot of exercise). These trails may not be accessible at all times, but if you can reach them, they'll refresh and inspire you as they are some of the best hikes in Washington. Just make sure you bring along your winter hiking essentials!
1. Franklin Falls Trail(Snoqualmie Pass)
This nice, easy two-mile hike is an amazing adventure in any season. But there's truly nothing like seeing the waterfall quiet and frozen.
2. Lake Serene Trail (Gold Bar)
The 8.5-mile Lake Serene (and Bridal Veil Falls) trail should only be attempted by experienced hikers, especially in less than ideal conditions. That being said, the lakeside winter scenery is absolutely stunning making it one of the most scenic hikes in Washington.
3. Cowiche Canyon Trail (Tieton)
This Yakima area hike stretches for about five miles and shows off the rugged beauty of the area. Best of all, you'll be on a pretty flat trail, so you can make the trek even if you've been hibernating all winter.
4. Barclay Lake Trail(Baring)
Barclay Lake is a fairly easy four-mile hike that comes with an amazing payoff. Follow the wooded trail for a couple of miles until you reach the lake, where you’ll have an unparalleled view of Mt. Baring.
5. Iceberg Point Trail(Lopez Island)
Planning a trip to the San Juan Islands in the near future? If so, you'll definitely want to take the time to walk this three-mile loop on Lopez Island. This is one of the best waterfront hikes in the Pacific Northwest, and it's totally family-friendly as one of the easy hikes in Washington.
6. Dishman Hills Pond Loop (Spokane)
Live in Eastern Washington? You don't have to go far to get a breath (or 1,000 breaths) of fresh air. The Dishman Hills Pond Loop Trail is a nice, scenic 1.6-mile loop you'll love.
7. Moulton Falls Trail(Yacolt)
There's nothing quite like a waterfall hike, and this 5.3-mile trail is accessible all year long. The hike is located in the middle of nowhere near the tiny town of Yacolt, allowing you to truly disconnect.
Enjoy these hiking trails while they're quiet and secluded...as it's not too often you get to enjoy the best hikes in Washington.
