The Evergreen State is amazing, and while one doesn't necessarily associate it with the tropics, there's much paradise in Washington to discover. (They don't call it #pnwonderland for nothing!) In fact, we do have some incredibly beautiful summer weather here, and there are a few places in the state that seem like a Caribbean paradise, albeit with a little imagination. If you can't head to Antigua this summer, these spots offer a perfect compromise; they really are like finding paradise in Washington! Here are some places you'll certainly want to visit this summer in Washington state:
1. Alki Beach, Seattle
While you won't find white sand or humid heat at Alki Beach, you will find palm trees, volleyball nets, fire pits, amazing sunsets, and delicious mojitos from Cactus and Chupacabra. There's really no better place to be on a summer day. It's one of the best beaches in Washington!
2. Beaches Restaurant & Bar, Vancouver
Summertime is the perfect time to grab a table on the patio of Beaches Restaurant & Bar, enjoy a tropical drink and some citrus calamari, and watch the sunset over the ocean ... uh, that is, the majestic Columbia River, which really is its own version of paradise in Washington, we say.
3. Quench Waterfront Kitchen & Bar, Port Townsend
Did you know our Victorian seaport has a tropical eatery that sits right on the water? Every seat has a view, but nothing beats enjoying a meal on one of the two outdoor decks on a summer day. This is waterfront dining in Washington at its best!
4. Marination Ma Kai, Seattle
OK, so Marination is supposed to be a Hawaiian-themed restaurant in Washington, and the Asian fusion tacos aren't exactly authentic. Still, the food is delicious, the drinks are perfectly chilled, and the patio is amazing on a nice, warm afternoon. Plus, while you may not see Caribbean waters, the views of downtown Seattle can't be beat.
