Tucked away on the very southeastern point of Virginia, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a true gem within the greater Virginia Beach Area.
Since its beginnings in 1938, the area has been preserved and managed by the U.S Fish & Wildlife Service.
This preservation ensures that visitors and residents alike can enjoy over 9,000 acres of sand dunes, marshes, ocean front, and forests.
So what’s the best way to enjoy the great outdoors of Back Bay?
Step onto the Dune Trail, a trek through the unique sand dunes and marshes so characteristic of this area.
As the boardwalk meanders through the sandy terrain, you’ll catch unforgettable glimpses of the oceanfront.
