Welcome to Claytor Lake State Park! Measuring 472 acres, it's the smallest of its kind in the Virginia State Parks system.
Don't be fooled, though; this park offers an abundance of adventures!
The park is situated on the namesake Claytor Lake, a gorgeous reservoir on the New River that was formed by Claytor Dam.
If you're a fan of boating, fishing, kayaking, or canoeing, you can hardly find a more beautiful spot to enjoy a day out on the water.
In fact, the park even offers a full-service marina complete with boat rentals, fuels, and supplies.
Another way to enjoy the water is by relaxing on the human-made swimming beach. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains are nothing short of inspiring.
And, if you'd like to extend your stay, there are private cabins overlooking the water for rent. Just imagine finishing your day away at the park with a view like this!
