Virginia's parks are some of the best in the U.S. Whether you're visiting a famed national park or a regional park, you'll undoubtedly be impressed by the gorgeous natural scenery and incredible amenities. One of our favorite park destinations is Newport News Park, a massive sanctuary filled with beautiful sights, recreational activities, and more. Here's why you'll want to add this lovely park to your outdoor bucket list.
Showcasing some of the most exquisite scenery in coastal Virginia, Newport News Park is a treasure trove of attractions, activities, and adventures.
To start, it's one of the largest municipal parks east of the Mississippi River. Measuring over 7,500 acres, this park has more than enough room to roam.
From kayaking to mountain biking, disc golf, archery, and paddle boating, the range of activities offered by the park is nothing short of impressive. There are even 188 campsites available for those that wish to extend their visit to this incredible outdoor space.
The park includes a beautiful trail system, which meanders through the varied landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!
One of the most popular amenities of the park is a 5.4-mile bike loop that begins at the Campsite Office. A portion of the loop passes through Colonial National Historical Park, the site of George Washington's headquarters during the Revolutionary War.
While the park is perhaps most popular during the spring and summer, you'll definitely want to make a point of visiting during the winter, when you can look forward to the annual holiday light displays.
So whether you're looking to reconnect with nature or experience some adrenaline-pumping activities, you'll find this park to be impressive on every level.
