Fairy Stone State Park — the name alone sounds magical, doesn’t it? This beautiful state park is home to the namesake fairy stones, small cross-shaped rocks that can be found in various parts of the park. But that’s not all the Fairy Stone State Park has to offer. It’s also hiding a little-known waterfall, and it’s one of our favorite hidden gems in Stuart, Virginia. To get there, you’ll take a marvelous four-mile trail that offers exquisite scenery at every turn. Ready to start exploring one of the best state parks in Virginia? Let’s go!?
Welcome to the lovely Fairy Stone State Park! The largest of Virginia's original six state parks, this destination offers no shortage of adventures.
It's situated just minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and throughout the park, visitors will catch glimpses of those gorgeous blue layers.
Another reason to go to Fairy Stone? The trails! The Little Mountain Trail System incorporates 10 miles of hiking and biking trails.
For a lovely adventure in the woods that leads to a little-known waterfall in Virginia, opt for the Little Mountain Falls Trail.
The 4.3-mile loop is considered to be moderately challenging, although most hikers agree that it's appropriate for the whole family, except maybe the littlest explorers.
One of the main highlights is, of course, the waterfall! During the spring it's quite an impressive sight to see, but even with less water, it's still a gorgeous little falls.
And don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for all kinds of magical wildlife you might spot along the way. This trail offers nature at its finest!
