Virginia's stunning landscapes never fail to enchant us. From the hazy blue of the mountains to the endless vistas promised by the coast, it's virtually impossible to find an area of Virginia that isn't naturally stunning. That's especially true if you venture out to the Eastern Shore, where the water views are abundant and downright magical. In fact, they may remind you of some of the landscape paintings created by the famous French impressionist, Claude Monet. We just so happen to think Monet himself would have been impressed by the stunning Eastern Shore landscape of Virginia. Take a look at the following photos and see if you don't agree.

Virginia's Eastern Shore is an enchanting place where the beauty of nature is always close at hand. Assateague Island

Assateague Island National Seashore is a 37-mile barrier island located within the Bay, shared between Virginia and Maryland. It's a stunning place where you'll discover salt marshes, dazzling beaches, and wild ponies.

Equally enchanting is Tangier Island, an island on the Chesapeake Bay that's unofficially known as the soft shell capital of the world.

Visiting these harder-to-reach places in Virginia, you won't help but notice the beauty of the landscape. Whether it's a sunrise or sunset, the colors that appear in the sky must have been similar to those that captured the imagination of Monet.

Monet himself enjoyed painting the ocean as well as sailboats, and therefore it doesn't seem too far of a stretch to claim that he would have been enchanted by the Chesapeake Bay.

If you can't make it to the Eastern Shore, Virginia's River Realm offers a similar landscape. Places like Tappahannock are famous for their stunning sunset colors.

No matter your reason for traveling to the water, you'll be so glad you did. Just don't forget to bring your camera -- and perhaps even a paintbrush or two!
