If you've lived in Virginia long enough, you've likely ventured to Natural Bridge, one of the region's most iconic landmarks. Admired for centuries, this natural wonder has inspired appreciation for the landscape in the eyes of residents and visitors alike. Today's hike not only features this natural wonder but also leads you to a lovely waterfall. Lace Fall Trails is simply magical, and we think you'll love every moment of this unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Few attractions in Virginia are more striking than Natural Bridge. Just a short drive from Lexington and tucked away in a town by the same name, Natural Bridge is a 215-foot-tall formation carved out over time by Cedar Creek.
Visit the state park and you'll have the opportunity to explore both the bridge and the impressive surrounding landscape. The park, which was officially incorporated in 2016, includes seven miles of hiking trails.
Among the most popular is Lace Falls via Cedar Creek Trail. Rated as easy on AllTrails, this two-mile hike begins with a gentle walk down Cascade Creek and ends at Lace Falls.
One of the best parts about the hike is the proximity to the water. You'll see firsthand the very creek responsible for carving out Natural Bridge.
While the waterfall is a main feature of this trail, hikers should note that it's not possible to get within 100 feet of it. However, you'll still enjoy scenic views and the lovely atmosphere this trail has to offer.
Part of the trail is paved and is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The later sections of the trail, closer to the waterfall, are gravel.
So the next time you're craving an adventure to admire one of Virginia's grandest landmarks, you won't be disappointed by this well-loved and beautifully-maintained trail.
