Located just south of Alexandria, Huntley Meadows Park is one of the most beautiful places in Virginia. It is a gorgeous natural area renowned for its wildlife and scenic trails.
Unique boardwalk trails invite visitors to explore the marsh, wetlands, and forests of this unique landscape.
We loved exploring the portion of the trail that was wooded, too.
While the surroundings may be bare during the winter, there's no denying the stark beauty of the boardwalk trail, especially when the wetlands have frozen over.
The boardwalk trail is just half a mile long, which is the perfect length for observing the unique bird species that make their habitats here. In fact, over 200 species have been observed at Huntley Meadows State Park.
This park is beautiful all year round, but there's something especially tranquil about the winter season.
As the low sun shines through the bare trees, you'll feel miles away from your busy routine and completely immersed in nature.
