Winter in Virginia is a magical time. While you might be tempted to stay warm indoors when the cold weather hits, there's a whole world outside that's just waiting to be explored. Hungry Mother State Park, for example, completely transforms into a winter wonderland with the first dusting of snow. So if you're willing to bundle up, you'll want to make a trip to this most dazzling landscape.
Beautiful any time of year, Hungry Mother State Park is simply breathtaking during the winter, especially with a dusting of snow.
Lace up your snow boots and you can immerse yourself in this gorgeous wooded landscape for a winter wonderland adventure. Doesn't this trail look like something out of a storybook?
Hungry Mother State Park offers beautiful trails which seem totally transformed under a blanket of snow.
The trail up to Molly's Knob Overlook, photographed below, looks completely different than it does during the warmer months. As soon as you arrive to the top, you'll enjoy an unobstructed view of the snow-covered mountains.
Even the lake looks totally altered. It's the perfect landscape for a winter adventure!
Of course, even without the snow, there's still plenty to love about this state park during the offseason.
