Ahh, winter. We love you so. In fact, our love for winter is why the biggest winter festival takes place in Vermont. That's right, Winterfest VT in Newport is taking place on Saturday, February 4 and it has everything to make you want to brave the chill and experience all the cold weather fun winter has to offer. We have some of the details and you'll want to check out the video to see Winterfrost from above and enjoy the action from a whole new level.
9:00AM: Snow-More Softball Tournament.
Who says baseball is just for summer? Not two North Country High School Juniors who are raising funds to help them travel to Italy this year to play for America's basketball team! Way to go!
10:00AM: Guy Fortin Broomball Tournament.
This annual co-ed Broomball Tournament brings everyone together for a fun event. No skates or skills are required and the only thing here is to have good old fashioned winter fun. The $10 entrance fee supports the fireworks later in the evening and the winners get championship t-shirts and major bragging rights.
11:00AM: Snowmobile Radar Runs at the Eastside Restaurant.
Take a break and warm up with a burger at the Eastside or take place in the speedy snowmobile radar runs.
2:00PM: Skate Shack Opens.
Whether you lace up your skates or sled down a hill, family fun activities get underway.
Get lost in the ice maze.
Volunteers have been working hard to prepare the ice castle!
And boy is it fun!
5:00PM: Winterfest Bonfire & Family Activities Begin.
Who doesn't love a bonfire?
6:00PM: Hoagie's Pizza Eating Contest.
Always fun and filling, this is one hilarious competition that you won't want to miss.
6:30PM: Snow King & Queen Awards
At Winter Festival, the North Country Chamber of Commerce will take a moment to recognize two young community members who have shown good citizenship and a willingness to help others all throughout the past year.
6:40PM: Chuck-a-Puck Toss.
Try your hand at the Chuck-a-Puck 50/50 fundraiser.
7:00PM: Fireworks.
