At 4,393 feet above sea level, Mount Mansfield is considered to be the tallest mountain in Vermont.
It's said to resemble the elongated face of a man looking up at the sky, with the Adam's apple on the north side of the mountain.

While many people spend hours hiking to the top, there's an easier way to get the mountaintop views, and it's one of the most scenic drives in Vermont.
Visitors who are short on time or can't manage the full hike can take the Stowe Auto Toll Road to the top.

The 4.5 mile-long Toll Road is unpaved and, while it is one of the most scenic drives in Vermont, it's not always the smoothest ride!
But that's to be expected when you're driving through the mountians in Vermont.
Once you reach the top, you'll be greeted by the Mount Mansfield Visitor's Center.
At the top, you can take a few short trails to discover beautiful vistas.
The Cliff Trail, Long Trail and Canyon Trail will climb up another 550 feet and stretch for 1.5 miles.
The Stowe Mountain Auto Toll Road is open between May and October every year.
It stays open every day between 9 am and 4 pm, with the exception of certain weather conditions. Bikers are not allowed on this road, just in case you wanted to take your bike up to the summit.
