Pretty soon, you'll be hearing Christmas music on the radio. And when Christmas lights start going up, that's when you know the holiday season has officially begun! Instead of purchasing a fake tree, consider getting a real one from one of Vermont's local farmers. There are quite a few farms that have "Choose and Cut" tree lots, but this Vermont Christmas tree farm is particularly unique for the method of transportation it offers to visitors. While taking a sleigh ride in Vermont is an absolute must-do in winter, how about taking a gorgeous sleigh ride through a snow-dusted field of evergreens??
Dave Russell's Christmas Tree Farm is located in Starksboro, Vermont.
The farm is owned by Dave and Janet Russell and is well-known for its vast amount of Christmas trees, but also for its famous sleigh ride.
Visitors can take a "sleigh ride" pulled by a team of horses around the farm.
For one flat fee, visitors can choose their own Christmas tree and be given a magical sleigh ride on this family-friendly horse-drawn wagon
The Christmas tree farm sells beautiful Balsam and Fraser Fir trees each year.
It takes 7-10 years for these trees to grow to 6-7 feet tall, which is the preferred size for a Christmas tree in the home. The tallest tree they sold was 25-feet tall and it was sold to the Shelburne Museum.
In addition to Christmas trees, the farm also sells wreaths and garlands.
They also sell delicious maple syrup!
You'll feel like you're riding on Santa's sleigh with the jingle bells worn by the horses.
After you find your tree, have yourself a picnic by the pond at the farm if the weather's nice or head inside the cabin to warm up.
Russell Christmas Tree Farm only accepts cash or checks, so remember to bring one of those when you visit. Also, note that Vermont sleigh rides can get a little chilly, so bundle up!

For yet another magical Christmas experience, Vermont's beloved Christmas Town, Woodstock, is an absolute must-visit this season! To extend the seasonal festivities, this riverfront cabin is just a few miles out of town, but it'll feel like you're a million miles from the hustle!
