If you're seeking out the best hiking trails in Vermont, Stowe is a great option. In fact, we'd argue that it's home to one of the most iconic hiking trails in the state: the Stowe Pinnacle Trail. So lace up those hiking boots, folks, we're headed into the mountains for a day of unbeatable hiking!
Stowe Pinnacle Trail is tucked away within CC Putnam State Forest. The out-and-back trail measures between three and five miles in length, depending on which trailhead parking lot you choose, and hikers will gain a little over 1,500 feet in elevation, making it quite a challenging hike. Of course, your efforts will be rewarded generously with varied terrains and breathtaking mountain views.
It's one of the most popular hikes in the area, so if you visit, plan to arrive early, and on a weekday if possible. The trail is rocky in parts, and very steep, requiring some rock scrambles, although you won't need to do any technical climbing. Past hikers have noted that the trail can be a little tricky to follow, especially if there's snowfall, so you'll want to keep a close eye on the blue markers indicating the trail.
After a vigorous climb upwards, you'll find a sign announcing the Pinnacle Summit just 0.2 miles away. This is where you'll enjoy absolutely breathtaking views beneath Mount Putnam. After having been in the forest for most of the trail's entirety, you'll welcome the open, panoramic view. Be sure to have your camera at the ready so you can capture this epic view!

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L.
