If you're looking for a special hike that your entire family can enjoy, plan a day trip to The Mount Philo Loop Trail. Located in Mount Philo State Park, this 1.9-mile loop is perfect for spending time in nature and taking in spectacular views.
Although The Mount Philo Western Loop is rated moderate, there are a few spots along the trail that are paved and conducive for strollers. The hike is also popular for biking, running, snow-shoeing, and cross country skiing. And since there are plenty of other trails in Mount Philo State Park, feel free to check out another hike after you've taken in the breathtaking scenery on this loop trail.
To reach Mount Philo Western Loop head to a small Vermont town called Charlotte. You'll find the trail in Mount Philo State Park.
While there isn't a yellow brick road on this trail, there will be plenty of steps for you to follow as you spend some time in nature.
From this vantage point along the trail, you can see Vermont Lake and the Adirondack Mountains in New York.
When you stumble across these chairs, take a pause during the hike to rest and reflect in nature.
Prepare to be mesmerized if you hit the trail during September or October.
Along with the spectacular views, keep an eye out for wildflowers as you hike this loop trail too.
Regardless of the weather, your furry friend can join you on the hike. They'll just need to be on a leash.
