One of the best ways to see and experience Vermont is by taking a hike that includes a waterfall. While there are many scattered trails - that fit the bill - throughout the state, the Moss Glen Falls Trail in Stowe, is one of the most popular.
The highest point on this picturesque hike is just over 300 feet. So, along with enjoying being in nature, you'll get some fresh air and exercise too. This trail is also a great destination for the entire family because it's conducive for hikers of all levels. If your furry friends are on a leash, they can join you on this outing as well.
To reach Moss Glen Falls Trail, head to CC Putnam State Forest and follow the signs to the trailhead.
The waterfall is reported to be around 125 feet.
The trail is a great destination for nature trips and school outings that include collecting leaves and bird watching too.
Part of the in and out trail will take you through these fields.
The contrast of the rocks against the river that leads to the falls make this hike a fun outdoor adventure.
As you meander up to the waterfall, have fun (safely) playing on the rocks in the stream.
If you reach the waterfall on a hot day, feel free to take a dip in the water!
Due to weather conditions, the best times to hike this trail are from May through October.
Remember to bring your camera to capture stunning views like this one of the waterfall!
