While the entire trail of this short hike is just over a mile, you'll come across a total of three waterfalls. The short and sweet Buttermilk Falls Trail takes you to three waterfalls. This scenic family (and dog) friendly destination is located in Okemo State Forest.
While you can access the trail throughout the year, April through November tend to be the most popular times to hit this hike. If you decide to snowshoe and explore Buttermilk Falls in the winter, you'll be treated to stunning views like this one of the Upper Falls frozen.
Although the trail is rated easy, remember to wear proper shoes as the rocks around the falls tend to get slippery.
The scenic lower waterfall is about 20 feet tall and flows into a pool that's 25 feet in depth.
When it's warm, pack a bathing suit and a picnic and enjoy the day splashing around these falls. This tends to be a popular swimming hole since the water is calmer in this portion of the tiered waterfall.
Along with enjoying the epic waterfalls on this short hike, you can also have fun tossing pebbles in the water leading to them as well.
