Montpelier might be the state capital, but that doesn't mean there aren't spots where you can go and explore nature and take in some breathtaking scenery from the top of a tower. That's right, Hubbard Park is located behind the state capitol building and extends along the ridge line towards the north. One of three nature centers in Montpelier, this is one place that you can get away from it all, while still being in the middle of the city.

If you are a dog lover, this is the place to be. This is a great place to let your dog have a good run and to do some doggie socializing.

The trek to the tower is worth it for the views.

Once you pass the metal gate, it's roughly ten minutes up a wide, moderately steep gravel and dirt trail.

Check out the quartz and pyrite deposit in one of the stones of the tower's entrance archway.
