During the off-season, when the snow has melted and the sun sticks around for more than just a few hours a day, pull out the hiking boots and head up to the mountain. At Mad River Glen you can experience beautiful colors and mountain terrain with a great network of trails for all skill levels. What are you waiting for? These photos are sure to inspire you to get out there and start exploring. Here's all the info you need:
The exclusively ski-only resort of Mad River Glen is located in Waitsfield on Stark Mountain. There are five different trails around the mountain to explore.
The two-and-a-half-mile Stark Mountain Trail leads you up to the summit, meandering through some of the ski trails. There is a vertical climb of 2,036 feet. Along the hike, you'll be treated to a waterfall and plenty of orange and yellow trees.
The trails are well maintained, but you will also feel like you are out in the wild, as you traverse the ski trails and mountainside.
Another option is the Bunny Cut-Off Trail which diverges from Stark Mountain Trail. This trail is on the steeper side, but it is still very approachable.
The views from the liftline are spectacular. And if you aren't looking to hike, you can just enjoy these breathtaking views.
You can learn more about the resort and its other summer activities and events on the website.
With stunning views and amazing trails and terrain, Mad River Glen is not just a wintertime destination.
