Buttermilk Falls is a stunning waterfall located in Okemo State Forest in Ludlow. You couldn’t ask for a prettier natural destination or picnic spot.
Hiking in Vermont doesn't have to be strenuous. The walk to the falls is easy enough to be totally doable for everyone from kids to older visitors. You should expect to walk about 1.1 miles in total, including the walk back.
Once you reach the falls, you’ll be wowed by the fine mist of spray in the air and the gorgeous sound of rushing water. There are plenty of rocky ledges where you can sit and admire the view.
The falls are surrounded by beautiful natural pools and lush forest. This truly does feel like a fairytale spot. You'll definitely want to bring a camera.
If you’re feeling a little warm from the walk, you can don a bathing suit and slip into the water. Be sure the currents are mild before leaving the shore and keep a close eye on any children or dogs.
