Ok, we might not be able to share the best places for fly fishing in VT but there is a reason for that... The people who know where the best spots are would never share them! Honestly, we can't blame them. Some things in life are best when they're kept a secret. However, there are many well known areas for fly fishing that are worth a trip. Get ready to reel in some beauties!
1. Battenkill River
This 59 mile long river may be the best known area for fly fishing in all of Vermont. It's full of trout and it's just waiting for you!
2. Lamoille River
Here you'll find trout as well as small and largemouth bass as well as a large variety of panfish to boot. This area is a favorite among locals and travelers alike.
3. White River
The White River, especially the areas in Granville and Hancock, have brought fishermen luck for many a year. Ready to try for yourself?
4. White River - Stockbridge to Bethel
If it's salmon you're looking for, this is the stretch for you. Over 125,000 salmon were stocked here in the mid 1980's so it's really no surprise why it's pretty awesome here.
5. Walloomsac River
in 2014 over 1,000 trout were stocked in the Walloomsac River - 750 "trophy" trout (two-year-old fish about 14 inches in length) as well as 250 brown trout.
6. Otter Creek
This guy is testing his luck at Middlebury Falls, which has been known to be a winning place for great catches.
7. Wells River
With surroundings as beautiful as this, does it matter if you catch anything? Although you probably will... It's a special spot for many people.
