One of the best ways to have a memorable outdoor adventure is to hike to a destination. If this sounds like your idea of a good time, put Mount Elmore on your list of hikes to do for breathtaking views from a little-known fire tower.
Based in Elmore State Park in Vermont, Mount Elmore is an intermediate-level hike that's just over 5 miles. Although the fire tower is a destination along the trail, you'll get to take in stunning views of wildflowers, a forest, a beach, and other points of nature. You can even bring your leashed dog with you too!
To reach the Mount Elmore trail, head to the trailhead at Elmore State Park. When you arrive, follow the well-marked trail to the fire tower.
This landmark fire tower was built in 1939. Your climb up it will be just as memorable as the stunning scenery overlooking Lake Elmore.
It'll truly feel as if you've escaped to another world when you take in the spectacular scenery from the fire tower.
You can expect to see views like this if you hit the trail on a clear day.
Feel free to make a pit stop to see the balancing rock along the trail too.
In this photo, the views overlooking the trail from the tower look like a painting.
And since you'll have access to a unique vantage point, make sure to bring your camera when you hit the Mount Elmore trail too.
