Elmore may be best known for its beautiful lake, so why not take it in from a different angle? Within the Lake Elmore State Park is a 4.3 mile loop trail that has a little bit of everything. You'll find flat stretches as well as uphill scrambles, along with surprising things like a balancing rock. The crown jewel on this hike is the fire tower with fantastic views that make you feel like you're on top of the world... Or at least the top of Vermont! The fire tower views here will make it seem like you can see the entire state of VT and beyond!
Elmore is a quiet town in Lamoille County that is home to Lake Elmore and Elmore State Park.
The park is stunning 700-acre recreational area surrounding the 219-acre lake.
The loop hike here is moderately trafficked trail with many wonderful lookouts along the way.
Be sure to stop and take them all in!
There are varying degrees of difficulty along the loop, but can be done in a few hours.
Take a side trail or two along the way such as the Balancing Rock Trail.
You won't want to miss it!
This rock sits at the edge of a ledge with a 50-foot drop (at least!) just behind it.
The fire tower may look a bit frightening, but calm your nerves and carry on.
The 360 degree panoramic views from the top are worth it!
Soak in the sights of the Worcester Range, with Camel's Hump in the distance.
Fall is a spectacular time to see the views, but you can do it in the winter, too.
