A hike through Emerald Lake State Park will reward you with a heavenly view and a great place to cool off.
Located in the Route 7 valley between the Green Mountains and the Taconic Mountains, this little 28-acre park is home to the dreamy Emerald Lake.
To reach the lake, you can hike through the park’s gorgeous hardwood forest. It’s filled with mature hemlocks, nibbling deer, and charming songbirds.
The most scenic path may just be the Vista Trail, which curved out over the lake and provides incredible views.
It’s just about two and a half miles round-trip, which means even novice hikers can get and back without much trouble.
Once you’re at the water’s edge, you’ll be struck by the beauty of this place.
The water is incredibly clean and pure, which gives this spot an almost otherworldly hue.
Bring a picnic along to enjoy on the sand, and be sure to pack your swimsuit. You won't be able to resist diving into this glittering lake.
Everyone in Vermont should make the journey out to this gem of a lake at least once.
