The best hiking trails in Utah take you someplace unique, someplace beautiful, and someplace worth the journey. Located up Logan Canyon is one of these hiking trails — the Wind Caves. This hike near Logan is quite popular and for good reason. The trail isn’t too difficult, the views are unforgettable, and the finish is quite unique. It’s one trail in Utah that deserves a spot on every hiker's bucket list.
Approximately six miles up Logan Canyon, you will come to the trailhead for the Wind Caves. This trail is approximately 3.5 miles round trip, perfect for an afternoon adventure.
This trail is quite easy to follow. But, there are some challenging areas and you will climb more than 1,000 feet in elevation. Take your time and enjoy the journey, but that’s pretty easy to do on this hike.
If you tackle this trail in the spring, you may see wildflowers lining your path and canyon views along your way.
Make sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection on this hike. There is limited shade and it can become quite hot, especially during the summer months.
As you hike, you’ll even capture views of the wind caves in the distance. This is great motivation to keep moving forward.
The trail actually ends at the top of the cave so you’ll want to climb down and explore. This cave is spectacular because it’s not really much of a cave, but it’s more of a triple arch.
This cave was actually formed underground thousands of years ago. The Logan River cut away the soil, dissolving the limestone and creating the large natural features that we see today.
Inside the Wind Cave, you’ll be given incredible views of the canyon around you — it’s quite spectacular.
If bringing little ones with you on this trek, make sure to watch your step in the cave. Near the edges of the cave are cliffs with steep drop-offs.
For a hike where almost every step is beautiful and the payoff is something extraordinary, the Wind Cave Trail in Utah must be on your bucket list. It’s one adventure you won’t soon forget.
This can be a busy hike in Logan Canyon. We recommend arriving early in the day and dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on the leash at all times.
