While some of Utah's trails are just an easy-breezy stroll, others require a reasonable amount of physical fitness and a big helping of ambition. The Grove Creek Spring Trail is definitely difficult, but if you're up for the challenge, you'll be rewarded with incredible views of the Utah Valley and a gorgeous waterfall. You'll start your hiking adventure at the trailhead found on Grove Creek Drive in Pleasant Grove. In the summer months, you'll want to get an early start on this trail, which is mostly sun-exposed.
The 8.2-mile-long trail is rated as "difficult," due to the 2,644-foot change in elevation along the way. The trail is challenging but also offers some beautiful scenery along the way.
You're welcome to bring your pup along on this trail. Please keep him on a leash and pick up after him.
Much of the trail is narrow singletrack that cuts through meadows and along switchbacks. You'll enjoy views of Mt. Timpanogos ...
... and you'll see two waterfalls along the way. Depending on the time of year, the falls can be quite impressive or just a small trickle.
Battle Creek Falls is the tallest of the two and you'll often see rock climbers on the sheer rock wall surrounding it.
Keep an eye out for wildflowers along the trail, especially in the meadows. You might also see some wildlife during your hike.
You'll be happy to have plenty of water, a hat, and some sunscreen on this hot, sweaty climb. The grade varies from 10 percent to 35 percent.
The valley views, wildflowers, and waterfalls make this tough climb well worth it!
