Utah's winters can be pretty cold, and the inversion can mean grey, sunless days in the Salt Lake and Utah valleys. Utahns certainly aren't afraid of a little cold weather, though! Bundle up, hop in the car and head into the mountains, where the sky is blue, the air is clean and Gorgoza Park is full of snowy fun.
Gorgoza Park just opened for the season! It's located just south of Jeremy Ranch. Take exit #141 off I-80, then drive to the park at 3863 West Kilby Road.
Don't worry - you don't have to drag that tube all the way up the mountain! The park has two lifts. This is the tow lift...
...and check out this lift - it's like a moving sidewalk!
The park has seven tubing lanes; four for advanced riders and three for beginners.
Make sure you bundle up with snow pants, gloves, boots and a hat.
Sunsets at Gorgoza are gorgeous, and the park's lights make it possible to stay and play until 8:00 p.m. - well after the sun goes down.
No need to bring a tube - they've got plenty.
The mini snowmobiles are a blast! Kids ages 6-12 can ride these wonder machines around the special track. Helmets are included in the rental.
Fort Frosty is a special area for the littlest snow bunnies. You have to be between the ages of 1-6 to play on the Frosty Carousel, and you should be accompanied by your parent.
When you're too tired to carry on, you can just have a nap with your mom!
We love playing in the Utah snow!
The park is open Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Starting December 17th through January 2nd, the park opens at 10:00 a.m. every morning for special holiday hours. For more information, visit Gorgoza Park's website.
