Fall is the perfect time to visit Zion National Park. The weather is cooler and you'll experience fewer tourists. While you're there, hike the Emerald Pools Trail to see some beautiful fall foliage.
The Emerald Pools Trail in Zion National Park is perfect for just about everyone. It's an easy hike, and the scenery is beautiful. You'll start at Zion Lodge and cross the footbridge — the first of many picturesque spots along the way.
The trail is about three miles round trip. It's one of the most popular trails at Zion, and you can certainly see why.
If you hike this trail in late fall (October or November), you'll likely be treated to some beautiful fall colors.
Make sure your phone is charged (or go old-school with an actual camera), because the views along the way are really gorgeous.
The trail takes you to three pools, creatively named Lower Emerald Pool, Middle Emerald Pool and Upper Emerald Pool.
The portion of the trail that leads to the lower pool is paved and is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.
If you'd like, continue on to the middle and upper pools. The trail gets steeper, but it's worth it if you don't mind expending a little more energy.
Make sure to obey the signs keeping you behind the chain at the top of the upper pool. It's slippery there, and people have fallen.
