The 86th annual Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in New York City is a must-see holiday event featuring a newly redesigned star and free public performances.

This year's tree lighting ceremony will be more exciting than ever. The star that tops the tree is getting its first redesign since it was added to the annual tradition in 2004. The new star weighs 900 pounds and is made up of over three million Swarovski crystals.

Beginning at 7 p.m., you can either see the tree lighting in person or catch the event on television on NBC from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on November 28, 2018.
