Texas is absolutely full of hidden gems, and Blue Lagoon in Huntsville is yet another tucked-away natural wonder that belongs on your bucket list for this summer. With sapphire waters, plenty of seclusion, and even scuba lessons, your visit here is sure to be one for the books.
An old limestone quarry filled with sparkling blue-green water, this hidden gem is primarily used for scuba training but is open to the public as well.
You'll want to arrive as early as possible if you're a non-diver due to limited space and high popularity. Only a select number of vehicles are allowed in, so try to be first in line!
Upon entrance, you'll be given a designated picnic table to occupy during your visit. Sites range from shaded underneath the vast coverage of trees to beachside with the water lapping at your toes.
One of the best things about Blue Lagoon is how quiet it is. You could practically hear a pin drop - so combine that with the crystalline water, and you'll have a hard time believing you're a stone's throw away from Houston.
Maybe you are in fact interested in becoming a scuba diver! If so, there's no better place in the area to do it. Lessons are held on Saturdays and Sundays, and a full-service retail store is on sight for all your gear needs.
If you're already certified, you can call 936-438-8888 to make a table + gear reservation. Spots are only held until 10 a.m. sharp, so be sure to arrive on time!
So whether you're an experienced diver or just looking for a new summertime hangout spot, look no further than Blue Lagoon. It's like a tropical paradise right here in the Lone Star State.
Blue Lagoon is located at 649 Pinedale Rd, Huntsville, TX 77320.
