Texas is no stranger to drive-through safaris, but this one stands out above all the rest. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is home to Overlook Cafe, a two-story-high restaurant offering diners an aerial view of more than 1,000 exotic endangered animals grazing on the African Savannah-esque landscape. This safari restaurant in Texas is fun for the entire family!
Perched high in the treetops of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Overlook Cafe has been offering a unique dining experience to visitors for 35 years — since the sanctuary first opened. Take in the exotic sights from an aerial perspective akin to the wildly popular (and ridiculously expensive) African Savannah helicopter rides.
Both indoor and outdoor seating is available, but we highly encourage grabbing a spot on the deck instead. The vantage point is just perfect, providing unparalleled views of the surrounding safari landscape. Did you know giraffes can grow to be nearly 20 feet tall? Imagine coming face-to-face with one while dining several stories above the ground?
Have you ever seen a more breathtaking view? Lush greenery extends in every direction far as the eye can see, giving resident animals plenty of food to graze on (and ensuring diners receive a show as they eat.)
On the menu, you'll find a variety of both hearty meals and small bites to satisfy everyone's hunger level. Half-pound burgers, Philly Cheesesteaks, and wraps are just several of the many delicious options. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available.
Address: Nature Store and Children's Animal Center, 1789, Co Road 2009, Glen Rose, TX 76043.
