If you like to frolic through fields of flowers, the Tyler Rose Garden definitely belongs on your bucket list. Out of the handful of gardens around Tyler Texas, this one is easily the best. The 14-acre park boasts thousands of rose bushes, and the blooms come in over 200 different varieties. This rose garden in Texas is one of our favorite hidden gems, and it makes a fantastic day trip in the Lone Star State!
Nicknamed the "Rose Garden of America," the Tyler Rose Garden boasts the largest public collection of roses in the U.S.
The sprawling, 14-acre park features a whopping 38,000 rose bushes with over 200 varieties in bloom.
From the classic red rose to multicolored petals, your eyes (and nose - just wait until you smell the intoxicating floral aroma) are in for a real treat.
Several paved walkways meander through the park, shaded by lofty pines that tower overhead like protectors of the garden.
You'll also see plenty of benches that allow you to stop and smell the roses - literally!
The garden is divided into several themed areas, the most popular of which are the Idea Garden, Heritage Garden, and camellia and daylily collections.
A special garden designed for meditation features a tranquil pond that encourages self-reflection.
There's also a beautiful fountain - surrounded by rose bushes, might we add - that clears your mind by way of steadily-trickling water.
Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer number and variety of plants at the garden. Although roses are the main draw, you'll see lots of other different types of vegetation, as well.
When planning your visit to the Tyler Rose Garden, timing is everything. The roses only bloom twice per year: once in mid-late April, and again in October. October is also when the annual Tyler Rose Festival takes place!
The rose garden is free to the public. Visit the City of Tyler website for more information, including current hours and bloom updates.
