Considering Palo Duro Canyon is second in size only to the Grand Canyon itself, other canyons in the state often get overlooked. Seminole Canyon in Comstock is one such place, and it's truly a shame that more people don't know about it considering its rich history and unsurpassed beauty. See for yourself:
Many people are drawn to Seminole Canyon because of the ancient art on the rock walls. Early humans carved pictographs that give insight into their daily lives.
Even if you're not a history buff, you'll undoubtedly find other things to do. Camping, hiking, mountain biking, and geocaching are among them.
There are 46 campsites, some primitive and some with water and electricity - all with restrooms and showers not far away.
You'll encounter some truly astounding views in the park. The Pecos River Bridge runs right through it, and gazing out over it at the canyon below is an experience you won't soon forget.
Hiking can only be done with a guide, but it's for the best because you might overlook some of the most magnificent pieces of wall art if you didn't know exactly what to look for.
There are three separate hikes: one that takes you to a cliff overhang...
...one that shows you the most remote areas of the canyon...
...and one that teaches you about the park's railroad and miltary history.
The state park is located at US Highway 90, Comstock, TX 78837.
