Featuring 7.5 acres of public gardens, Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park is the perfect way to get some fresh air and enjoy nature with the whole family.
Open year-round, this organic oasis features both native and adapted plants, a snake shack, and the ever-popular Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House and Insectarium.

It's open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
Once inside, you'll feel as if you've entered a tropical rainforest.
Lush flora is everywhere you look, and the climate-controlled environment is warm year-round.

While you're in the butterfly house, don't forget to check out the Emergence Chamber.
Located on the lower level, this glass enclosure is home to a bevy of butterfly chrysalises and moth cocoons. Arrive at the right time, and you just might see one break out and enter the world!
You'll also have the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with a honeybee hive and learn about all the hard work involved in maintaining it.
Perhaps the queen herself will make a grand appearance during your visit.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 60 and up, and $5 for children 3-11. Children two and under get in free, and Wednesday is "pay-as-you-wish," or donation-based entry.
