There are quite a few inclusive playgrounds in Texas, and the James Driver All-Inclusive Park is one of my favorites. Located in East Aldine (Houston), this sprawling park welcomes fun-loving visitors of all ages, featuring custom swings, a sensory garden, extra wide, paved walking paths, and so much more. It's the perfect family outing!
Opened to the public in December 2021, the remodeled James Driver Inclusive Park features 29 acres of pure fun for people of all abilities.
The $8-million project upgraded nearly every aspect of the park, adding a unique topographical design that allows for elevated play without ramps.
Visitors can enjoy hill slides, custom-built swings, climbing features, and so much more.
Eight-foot-wide walking paths easily fit two wheelchairs side-by-side.
The park is also incredibly scenic, featuring a wooden footbridge that crosses over a detention pond and a large lawn with bright green grass.
Relax in the hammock area or test your limits at one of the fitness stations for all abilities.
You'll even see outdoor games like bocce ball, ping pong, cornhole, and chess!
There are also two sports fields, including beep baseball equipment for those with visual impairments.
Other attractions include spinning play elements, a splash pad, and a sensory garden.
Also on-site are two community centers that host regular classes on healthy living and intergenerational interaction, lots of comfortable seating, and a pavilion with restrooms with changing areas for both children and adults.
Visit the Harris County Precinct 2 website or the Harris County Precinct 2 Facebook page for more information about the park, including current hours of operation.
