Whether it's sloppy barbecue or a sophisticated Sunday brunch, we Texans have one unchanging requirement in regards to food: it has to be fresh. That sentiment is more than respected at Farm Haus Bistro, a restaurant tucked away on a remote herb garden in the small town of Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg Herb Farm is a fairytale destination tucked away deep within a lush grove of trees. It features a farm-to-table bistro, spa, gift shop, and even rooms for overnight lodging, ensuring guests leave nothing short of satisfied - both physically and mentally.
Meander along the winding garden pathways until you come upon the restaurant, a charming little building just beckoning you to enter. Whether breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, rest assured the talented Chef Ava knows exactly how to please a crowd.
Built in the late 1890s, this historic rock house is an ideal dining environment. Each room is equipped with large picture windows that provide unparalleled views of the farm, allowing patrons to understand just how fresh their meal truly is.
Brunch is served every weekend, featuring classic dishes elevated by the use of ingredients from the garden. For example, this cheesy bacon quiche has spinach, mushrooms, and herbs that were picked just hours before making it onto your plate.
Fruits and veggies are great, but sometimes you just need to indulge a little (or a lot.) If your palate is feeling particularly naughty, splurge on this homemade cinnamon roll topped with golden raisins and a warm pecan caramel glaze. It's a mouthful to describe, but even more so to eat. Seriously - this thing is bigger than your head!
Brunch simply wouldn't be complete without drinks, so why not order a mimosa flight for the whole table to share? If you've only had the traditional champagne and orange juice, your taste buds are in for a real treat with these fun flavor combos (think prickly pear!). Other beverages include wine tasting, margaritas, and plenty of non-alcoholic options.
Also on the property are 14 quaint German guest cottages and a relaxing day spa, allowing visitors to turn their culinary experience into a mini vacation. Lodging rates start at $159/night, and spa pricing varies depending on the services you desire.
Address: 405 Whitney Street, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. The hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, with the additional dinner window from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
