Some people honestly think Texas is all tumbleweeds and dust. Those people are ever so incorrect. Our state is full of lush greenery, fast-flowing streams, swimming holes full of crystal clear water - and some of the most majestic mountains you'll ever lay eyes on. You may recognize them as being part of the Big Bend National Park - in fact, the entire confines of the range can be found there - but their actual name is the Chisos Mountains, far out in the Old West. These mountains just might be the most beautiful work of nature in Texas, and that's saying a lot because our state is simply bursting at the seams with breathtaking views. Take a look at this gallery and decide for yourself.
This scene is called "The Window" because it provides the perfect view of the sunrise over the mountaintops. Isn't it breathtaking?
A landscape view of the entire mountain range. It's hard to believe this magnitude of beauty can be found right here at home.
West Texas sunsets are the best kinds of sunsets. (Although any Texas sunset is pretty amazing.)
Imagine taking a road trip and seeing this view unfold before your eyes.
Another panoramic view of our own mystical wonderland right here in Texas.
I'm sure this man had some very profound realizations about life while sitting here, gazing out at nature's immaculate creation.
Such distinct layers of rock, telling vivid stories of the history of the mountains and the different elements that impacted their formation.
I'm sure this hike leaves you feeling on top of the world. (Which is a good thing - as long as you don't look down!)
Coming full circle - the same view through "The Window," this time at sunset. This is the cycle of nature, and its beauty is insurmountable.
I'll be honest, I actually teared up a little while putting this post together because I was so overcome with appreciation for the sheer amount of beauty our state has to offer. Have you ever seen the Chisos Mountains firsthand? I'd love to hear your stories and experiences!
