What are your "must-do" activities during the warmer months of the year? I have several, and one of them is berry picking in Texas. There are no shortage of places to pick fresh berries in the Lone Star State, and Berryland Farms in Winnie is one of the best. With some of the sweetest, most juicy blueberries and blackberries you'll ever taste (plus tomatoes, squash, flowers, and more!), this family-fun destination is worth adding to your bucket list.
Is there anything better than picking fresh berries in the spring? Personally, I never let the season end without visiting at least one berry farm.
If you're a fellow berry connoisseur, I highly recommend checking out Berryland Farms in Winnie. It's open from mid-May through mid-July and offers tons of fresh crops and an atmosphere that's fun for the whole family.
Blackberries and blueberries are ripe for the picking, usually through late June.
They're sweet, juicy, and perfect for all of your baking, snacking, and jelly-making needs.
Bring your whole crew and get ready to fill a bucket (or several!) with nature's candy.
What's your favorite thing to make with fresh berries? Mine is a blueberry pie, hands-down.
The farm also offers frozen, freshly-picked blackberries if you don't have time to (or don't want to) pick your own.
You can also pick tomatoes, peppers, squash, and even flowers!
Flowers (zinnias and sunflowers) are usually available through late June.
Much like the berries, the flowers are offered on a cut-your-own basis, so you get to craft the perfect bouquet to gift or display.
Tomatoes are usually the last item still available (typically through July).
You can always call the farm if you're wondering what they have at any given time, and there's always a chalkboard near the entrance that has everything listed.
Visit the Berryland Farms Facebook page for more information. You'll need durable shoes for walking around the farm, so check out REI for some great options.
