It's no secret that the state of Tennessee is way above average when it comes to natural beauty. From the floodplains of the Mississippi to the foggy coves of the Great Smoky Mountains, the state offers a little something for every nature lover. One of the most popular spots, for good reason, is Fall Creek Falls State Park, a spot on the Cumberland Plateau with waterfalls hiding around every turn in the trail. The coolest part? One of those trails features a swinging bridge straight over the waterfall.
Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of Tennessee's more popular getaways as it sits right between Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.
The state park is a little off the beaten path, but its seclusion highlights the natural beauty of Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau.
While Fall Creek Falls itself is the most popular waterfall in the park, the trail to Cane Creek Falls is arguably the best in the park. It's just hard to beat a swinging bridge!
The swinging bridge crosses the gorge right above the smaller Cane Creek Cascades, and it makes for an exhilarating experience.
Here's the view from the bridge. Who wouldn't want to take this trail through the woods?!
All told, there are over 56 miles of hiking trails throughout Fall Creek Falls State Park. That's more than enough to keep you occupied for a day or even an entire weekend.

You can even camp at the park as well. They have 10 cabins that are available for rent as well as 222 RV/tent sites and 16 primitive campsites for the die-hards out there.
If you continue down the trail to the base of Cane Creek Falls, just be sure to keep in mind that the area is full of slippery and steep rocks. You can climb out directly from the falls, but you have to climb up a 45-degree slope with the help of a hand cable.
The best starting point to get to the bridge is at the Betty Dunn Nature Center, which is located in Pikeville at 10821 Park Rd. See you on the trail!
If you're looking for another way to catch your breath, there's nothing like a trip down the longest, highest zipline in Tennessee.
