The hike to Rutledge Falls is perhaps one of the shortest and sweetest in the state for folks looking to enjoy a quick experience with a huge payoff. At just 0.8 miles, this out-and-back route is great for the entire family.
The 50-foot elevation gain is completely doable, and a quick half-hour hike is attractive to many (as opposed to schlepping for hours through the wooded wilderness).
Keep in mind, however, that there are steep sections of the hiking trail that may require some hikers to seek assistance.
The hiking route is located on private property, but the local owners allow for visitors to trek to the falls from dawn to dusk daily. Make sure that you respect the area and leave it clean and clear of trash and debris.
The falls are jaw-droppingly beautiful. The stunning natural area is great for picnicking and swimming, though there is no camping on-site.
