The Pogue Creek Overlook State Natural Area is a nature preserve that can be found in the heart of Fentress County. Located officially in Jamestown, Tennessee, the park is known for its great amenities and beautiful views.
Known for its ecological purity and stunning rock features, Pogue Creek Overlook is carved right out of the Cumberland Plateau. Some even compare the stunning features to the canyons of the Southwest.
Throughout Pogue Creek Canyon visitors will find sandstone bluffs, natural arches, deep caves, and mesas.
The area also lends itself to rare wildlife like the bald eagle and green salamander. The Tennessee State Wildlife Action Plan has chosen to focus on the northern Cumberland Plateau for conservation, both for the geological features and local wildlife.
The hike to Pogue Creek Overlook is roughly 6.3 miles, and the moderate trail is known to lend itself to great hiking trips and nature walks.
