There is no denying it, our rivers in Tennessee are simply beautiful. But some of these pretty places do tend to look very similar. Take these two Tennessee hikes for instance, Chimney Rocks Trail and the Snooper Rock Trail. Both of them are found in different parts of our state and yet you might have to do a double take when you are standing at the overlook. I find it interesting how Chimney Rocks Trail looks strikingly similar to Snooper Rock Trail. They both boast a stunning horseshoe river bend and the trails both have similar overlooks but offer hikers wholly unique adventures.
Chimney Rocks Trail will take you up to a view overlooking the French Broad River.
When you take in the beautiful sights, you might get a sense of deja vu. If you have been hiking near Chattanooga, you might see the similarities between Chimney Rocks Trail and Snooper Rock Trail.
For reference, here is a picture of Snooper Rock Trail. The similarities between the two are quite remarkable, and both of them have much to offer nature-loving hikers. Snooper Rock is found within the Tennessee River Gorge and is one of the most remarkable natural wonders in Tennessee, It is also known as the Grand Canyon of Tennessee.
To enjoy Chimney Rocks Trail, there are a few things you should know before you go.
The trail leads into Weavers Bend Campground which will close the gate of the road leading to the trailhead during certain times and seasons. If this happens, you will have to add mileage to your hike but the plus side is the beautiful sights you can get along the way.
If you enjoy a secluded hike then this trail will be perfect for you. Many times there are very few people traveling this route so you will have a lot of time to be alone.
The trail will lead you straight up for around 4.5 miles and you will gain 1,171 feet of elevation along the way for a moderate-rated hike. The official trail will go past the Chimney Rock overlook so if you are short on time you can turn around once you arrive at the viewpoint.
The views are just breathtaking when you get to the top. Seeing the horseshoe river bend and enjoying some peace and quiet sounds like a day well spent.
What do you think, do these two trails look a lot alike? Has anyone else hiked both of them? Chimney Rocks Trail might not be as known as Snooper Rock Trail but it is completely worth the trip. We also highly recommend hiking Snooper Rock Trail and we also know a local secret of how to get to the Snooper Rock Overlook without hiking the whole trail. Check it out! While looking to see both of these wonderful rivers in Tennessee, a helpful tool I would suggest using would be the AllTrails+ app. You can learn up-to-date info on the trail before you plan your trip when you check it out.
