Whether you're a sunny-season hiker or a true blue aficionado who frequents the trails come winter, there's something about a beautiful view and a short hike that really seems to up the ante on a normal day. Battlefield Trail is located in Williamson County, Tennessee, and the out-of-the-way trek through the Thompson's Station wilderness is one of the most underrated experiences in the area. Battlefield Trail Hilltop has been listed as one of the best trails in Thompson's Station by AllTrails, and we have to agree. The lightly trafficked hiking loop boasts a stunning, well taken care of trail that's easy to access and perfect for a day trip.
The trail is located in Preservation Park, a local recreation space that used to be a grazing pasture and was once a part of the Battle of Thompson's Station. The park is fairly new and was created to reflect the natural beauty of the local area.
Battlefield Trail is 3.4 miles in its entirety and is known for featuring beautiful wildflowers in the springtime and a gorgeous view at its peak. Dogs are able to use the trail if kept on a leash.
Isn't this view absolutely stunning? You'll experience a 436-foot elevation gain along the entirety of the route, so though there is some increase along the trail, it's not enough to make the experience difficult.
Keep in mind, however, that you may run into some wildlife along the trail! Be aware that deer, snakes, coyotes, skunks, and rabbits frequent the area.
Battlefield Trail is well-marked and the trail is fairly wide, which is great for the whole family. It's the perfect place to catch the sunset or maybe the sunrise if you're up early, and the easy terrain means you can come back again and again just to enjoy the fresh air and great outdoors.
