It's official: South Dakota's biggest city is home to one of the state's best parks systems, thanks to recent recognition by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.
According to a recent report from KELOLAND, there are approximately 10,000 U.S. parks and recreation agencies, but less than 2% are accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, including Sioux Falls.
Awarded every five years, the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies holds more than 151 standards. This year, Sioux Falls had a perfect score, making the choice a no-brainer for the Commission.
For more than 100 years, Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation has been serving the community in numerous ways, including - of course - park maintenance and management, special events, and hosting countless classes and activities.
In addition to the outdoor aspect, Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation also manages the city's pools and community centers, all of which went into consideration with the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.
