Celebrate the arrival of February looking forward to the upcoming u-pick daffodils event at Merrick Daffodil Farm in Bluffton, South Carolina. Locals and daffodil lovers alike know the arrival of February means u-pick daffodil season is only days (or at worst, a few weeks) away in the Palmetto State. And we only know of one place in all of South Carolina where you can go to pick your own daffodils.
According to the Facebook page of the U Pick Daffodils Farm in Bluffton, the season may arrive a little later than usual this year.
As of January 25th, the farm was still awaiting the sprouts to show above ground. Typically, daffodils are among the first flowers to show each year, blooming anywhere from late January to February.
In 2020, the blooms were showing up early enough to open the u-pick season on February 1st, but not in 2021. This year, the blooms are likely lagging slightly behind.
But that's okay. Daffodils will brighten your day any time of year!
Bring the whole family to enjoy the fun.
And if you can, plan to arrive as early in the day as possible, in case there's a record crowd and the blooms of the day are all cut by later in the day. The farm usually opens at 10 a.m.
South Carolinians know that February can be hit or miss in the weather department. One day it could be very warm, and the next blistering cold. Still another, there could be so much rain the daffodil field is closed for the day.
The farm is very meticulous about posting on its Facebook page the current status of the farm, such as if the farm is open for the day or if there are blooms available each day. You can also check the farm's website for current status.
Don't let February 2021 slip by without stepping foot in the biggest daffodil field you've ever seen.
And plan to take a lot of photos!
After the year we just had, you deserve a trip to a field of bright yellow blooms!
The U Pick Daffodil Farm is located six miles before you get to Bluffton.
Once the u-pick season begins, the farm is usually open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. provided there are blooms for the day. Again, you can follow along on the farm's Facebook page to learn when the u-pick season will officially open for 2021 and to stay on top of the current supply status at the farm and any farm closing days.
