Farms are one of the backbones of South Carolina. From peach farms to pumpkin farms, and farms that grow local produce to farms that offer agritourism activities (particularly in the fall season), there are many reasons to love our farms and farming families. But one kind of farm isn't all too common in the Palmetto State: a flower farm. Check out this u-pick flower farm in South Carolina's Lowcountry and get ready to make a trip this summer to cut your own flowers to bring home and brighten up the space.
Come early June the Moncks Corner Willard family flower farm known as Red, White, & Bloom will officially open for the 2022 u-pick flower season. The season should run all the way through the summer with a variety of different flowers maturing into the u-pick category as the season progresses.
Expect over an acre of blooms on this wonderful family farm that began growing u-pick flowers back in the 2020 season.
Come pick your own blooms which are priced at $20 for a cup or $125 for a bucket. (Buckets are large and usually have enough blooms for a good five bouquets of flowers.)
You can bring your own clippers or use the farm's. The farm provides the cups and the recyclable buckets so there's no need to bring those along.
Keep in mind there is no entry fee onto the farm in order to pick the flowers. You'll just pay for what you pick.
And don't forget to bring some sunscreen. The fields have no shade. And for that matter, the farm does not currently have public restrooms, either. So keep that in mind.
Wondering exactly where to find this u-pick farm in the Lowcountry? It's in Moncks Corner, approximately 40 miles northwest of Charleston and 100 miles southeast of Columbia.
Mark your calendar for early June for the start of the u-pick season at Red, White, & Bloom in Moncks Corner. Follow the farm's Facebook page for the official word on the opening date for u-pick flowers in 2022.
